About

Ben Quilty: Devil/God is an art exhibition of paintings and installations at an art gallery in Chelsea, New York. It is the first New York solo show by the Australian artist Ben Quilty, known for large-scale, heavily impastoed paintings. The work explores themes of masculinity, power, institutional abuse, and ecological and political crisis, using an expressionist language that weighs victim against perpetrator. The title reflects exhaustion with the institutions that are supposed to embody collective hopes and values but often drive exploitation and violence.
