About

Deity is Adam Putnam's fifth solo exhibition with P·P·O·W, an arrangement of sculptures and other improbable objects. At its center stands a mysterious octagonal reservoir of water set in a hexagonal tile floor made from earth surrounding the artist's Maine studio, referencing ancient Greek oracles. Discarded tree branches, washed ashore along coastlines from around the world, are carved into the forms of human limbs, alongside newly printed photographs and small-scale structures. Through photography, drawing, sculpture, film, installation, and performance, Putnam explores the shifting boundaries between architecture and nature, and the mundane and the transcendent.
