Celia Paul in conversation on her new Venice book.

Rizzoli Bookstore hosts a conversation between the painter Celia Paul and writer Jarrett Earnest, host of the podcast Private Life from The New York Review of Books, to celebrate Paul's new book Objects of Desire: An Artist in Venice. Written during an artist's residency alone in Venice, the book records her perceptions there and her preoccupations with female desire and love, mortality, and memory, touching on her late husband, the artists Carpaccio, Giotto, and Giorgione, and the painting La Tempesta. After the talk, Celia Paul will sign copies of her book, which is published by New York Review Books.
