Correspondences: de Appel 1975–2025
Printed Matter, Inc., West 11th Street 231, Manhattan
About
The New York book launch and opening of an archival display for "Correspondences: de Appel 1975–2025", a publication drawing on fifty years of correspondence from the de Appel Archive in Amsterdam. The book was initiated by Martha Jager and co-edited with Hannah Cheney with de Appel archivist Nell Donkers, published by de Appel, and traces the networks behind the institution's exhibitions, performances, publications and programs through letters, telegrams, postcards, faxes and emails from over a hundred correspondents. The display brings original material from the archive to New York, including letters and postcards sent from the city to Amsterdam some thirty to fifty years ago. It is convened by Darling Green and curated by Martha Jager in dialogue with de Appel.
