Just Say Nyet: The Soviet Battle Against Booze
Poster House, West 23rd Street 119, 10011 New York, Manhattan
About
An exhibition of Soviet anti-alcohol posters at the Entry Foyer of Poster House. Curated by B.A. Van Sise, it looks at Mikhail Gorbachev's last-ditch campaign against his nation's rampant alcoholism through severe restrictions and a blunt advertising drive. The government appealed to health, decency, emotional well-being, and labor production, begging its people to give up the bottle. It did not succeed.
