Marcus Jahmal: Booty

"Booty" is an exhibition of new paintings and installation by Marcus Jahmal at Anton Kern Gallery. It is his third solo show at the gallery and his first since co-curating GIVE ME TWO there in January 2026. The works turn to the history of piracy and its contradictions, showing pirate figures with peg legs, hook hands and swords in scenes that are playfully absurd yet fraught, borrowing from the swashbuckler of Treasure Island. On the gallery floor, Jahmal builds sculptural piles of Swarovski crystals waiting to be plundered.
