Marni Kotak: Midterms Moonshot Presented by Microscope Gallery at Grace Exhibition Space 182 Avenue C (at 12th Street)
Microscope Gallery, West 29th Street 525, 10001 New York, Manhattan
About
An evening of Marni Kotak's solo exhibition "America on the Dark Side of the Moon," presented by Microscope Gallery at Grace Exhibition Space in the East Village, taking place as the midterm results roll in. Kotak continues her durational performance/installation, drawing on dollar bills in real time in response to live-streamed election coverage projected in the space. Visitors are invited to join the artist in her living room installation, lit by a large moon, to discuss their thoughts and emotional responses to the political events, and receive Mylar moon balloons with the exhibition title hand-drawn by Kotak. The works are inspired by her experience of a mental health crisis in 2016, when she heard Richard Nixon's voice telling her this was America on the dark side of the moon.
