Morten

MORTEN | NYBFF is a film screening with a talk and Q&A with director Ivan Pavljutškov, presented by Scandinavia House: The Nordic Center in America. It shows Ivan Pavljutskov's Morten, a coming-of-age film set between reality and the mystical in the Estonian countryside, part of the 9th Annual New York Baltic Film Festival. Fifteen-year-old Morten lives with his uncle and a one-eyed cat in an abandoned forest village, hiding his life from classmates until two people show interest in him. Based on Reeli Reinaus' novel, the film premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2026 and won three awards at Italy's Giffoni Film Festival.
