An in-depth lecture on Rempart, a typeface that is an irreverent take on François Ganeau's Vendome, presented as part of the Herb Lubalin Lecture Series. Rempart comes to life through film titles, over-inked specimens, candy bar wrappers, RPG games, castle diagrams, and culinary ephemera, a reinterpretation familiar in spirit but brand new in form. The speaker is Douglas Hayes, a Buffalo-based designer who creates typefaces, wordmarks, logos, and lettering and is a graduate of the Type@Cooper Extended Program, class of 2016.
