About

The Biography of a Building: Runik's House of Culture is an exhibition tracing the story of a once-central cultural building in Runik, Kosovo, through archival materials, oral histories, rescued objects, and restoration plans. Artist Petrit Halilaj, who grew up in Runik, and the Hajde! Foundation he founded are working to bring the House of Culture back to collective life, and the Kosovo architecture practice Ars Atelie leads its restoration. The New York presentation is part of Storefront's Homelands series, with a simultaneous exhibition space and Welcome Center open in Runik ahead of the building's planned reopening in 2028.
