About
The New York Graphic Workshop: Towards Total Art is an exhibition presenting works on paper, mail art, participatory pieces, installations, and archival materials by the New York Graphic Workshop. The collective was formed by artists Luis Camnitzer, José Guillermo Castillo, and Liliana Porter in New York in 1964 and worked until 1970, seeking to redefine printmaking through its conceptual properties and the ideal of a more democratic art form. The first historical survey in New York devoted to the group, it is curated by Olivia Casa and developed in collaboration with Luis Camnitzer and Liliana Porter. It is presented on two levels, with an installation of Camnitzer's Masacre de Puerto Montt followed later by Porter's Untitled (Nails), and is accompanied by two short video portraits from ISLAA's 270 series.
