The Woman in the Window
The Metrograph, Ludlow Street 7, 10002 New York, Manhattan
About
The Woman in the Window is a high-style noir suspenser about staid college professor Richard Wanley, who falls into a self-defense killing and cover-up after meeting a beguiling model he glimpses in a gallery window. Fritz Lang directed this 1944 film, in which Wanley ends up investigating his own crime alongside the district attorney as fresh clues tighten the noose. Edward G. Robinson stars as Wanley, with Joan Bennett as the model and Dan Duryea in a wonderfully oleaginous turn.

Critics
7.5Very good
The reviewer praises the film as excellent early noir with masterful suspense from its director. The forced, tacked-on happy ending is faulted as a flaw.
