Terra Cognita: new ceramic sculptures by Tony Marsh.

An exhibition of new ceramic sculptures by Tony Marsh, his first solo show since a survey at the Long Beach Museum of Art. It marks a return to his Perforated Vessel series, begun more than three decades ago, in which he drills thousands of openings by hand into the walls of each form. The new works introduce saturated blues, yellows, pale pinks, and exposed terracotta, rising vertically and drawing on references from Egyptian, Greek, and Chinese vessels. Marsh has spent nearly five decades transforming the vessel from a closed container into something porous, shaped by light and open to its surroundings.
