Loren Erdrich: The Echo
Shrine, Broadway 368, 10013, Manhattan
About
An exhibition of paintings and glazed ceramic sculptures titled 'The Echo' by the New York artist Loren Erdrich, with an opening reception in the early evening. Her works pair painted starscapes and imagined galaxies with three-dimensional busts, vessels and totems molded from fired clay, suggesting a repeating loop of time with no clear beginning or end. Flowers sprout from the heads of her sculptures and reappear floating among the brightly colored cosmos of her canvases, in a hopeful scene that also nods to today's crises. Erdrich, born in 1978, lives and works in New York City and holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Burren College of Art at the National University of Ireland.
