Fossil Psychic Stone Mimicry (Aspen)

An exhibition of sculpture by Kerstin Brätsch, presented as a site-specific rooftop commission centered on a new series of four mosaic benches. The benches, built from glass, concrete, marble and stones, continue her Fossil Psychics works in which painterly gestures become fossilized fragments like remnants of geological phenomena or ancient creatures. Visitors may sit on the benches, which accommodate living plants within them, forming a landscape of native flowers and shrubs that changes with the seasons, framed by a vinyl mural from her MƎTA series of enlarged oil paintings. Curated by Stella Bottai, Daniel Merritt, and Nicola Lees.
