About
"Virginia Jaramillo: Pause in Time" is a solo exhibition at Hales Gallery in New York, opening with a reception on the evening of November 12, 2026. It presents new works by Virginia Jaramillo, an artist born in 1939 whose seven-decade career is also currently featured at MoMA PS1. The show pairs new curvilinear paintings, with energetic lines moving across fields of color, with dense, layered linen-fiber collages built from pulp and hand-ground earth pigments. Under the title "Pause in Time," the exhibition treats space and time as interconnected and non-linear, drawing on the Japanese concept of "Ma" and revisiting ideas from across her career.
