RECOLLECTION – CASPER FAASSEN ZURICH

"CASPER FAASSEN – RECOLLECTION" is an exhibition opening with a talk at the Bildhalle gallery in Zurich. The guests are the artist Casper Faassen and Dr. Michaela Oberhofer, curator of African and Oceanic Art at Museum Rietberg. In "ReCollection", the second chapter of a two-part exhibition, Faassen traces dispersed cultural objects and stages them in crates and behind translucent surfaces as "memories in transit". In doing so he asks how Western museum collections were formed and questions ownership and restitution, referencing among others the Benin Bronzes and a stolen Modigliani painting.
