About
'Caspar Heinemann: Tempting Fate' is an exhibition at Kunsthalle Zürich presenting sculptures, installations, performances, drawings and texts by Caspar Heinemann, a Glasgow-based artist born in London in 1994. At its centre stands ABRACADABRA, an installation developed especially for the show, made of simple wooden pallets and a heavy, hand-embroidered, sound-dampening curtain that evokes an improvised school or community-hall stage, with no true front or back, since the 'back' of each stage is the other's front. Through it, Heinemann turns to the night sky, a recurring motif in his work with which he explores questions of continuity, imagination and so-called 'magical thinking'. Curated by Fanny Hauser, this is the artist's first institutional solo exhibition outside the United Kingdom and also includes two restored Black Forest cuckoo clocks from the late 1940s.
