About

The «DadaZwischenSprachen» Artists' Bar is a display space at Cabaret Voltaire, the Zurich venue regarded as the birthplace of Dada. It shows works by Katalin Ladik, a Hungarian-speaking artist, poet and performer from Vojvodina, and by Babi Badalov, serving as an open entrance to the exhibition «DadaZwischenSprachen» (DadaBetweenLanguages) in the Vaulted Cellar. Ladik treats language as physical and vocal material, as in her 1972 film O-pus, built around the sound "O" and the typographic shapes of letters, which can be watched in the Vaulted Cellar. Her work links voice, sound, image and text, echoing Dadaist sound poems.
