Games of Love and Loneliness

«Games of Love and Loneliness (Den allvarsamma leken)» is a 1977 feature film by Anja Breien. In the summer of 1897, the young journalist Arvid and Lydia, the daughter of a painter, fall immortal in love, but because of their different social backgrounds both must enter marriages of convenience. Ten years later they find each other again, yet Lydia is torn between her hard-won freedom and her youthful love. Over fifteen years, the film traces a woman's development from shy youth through passion to her relative emancipation after an unhappy marriage.
