In Zurich's Johanneskirche, the Spanish Baroque oratorio «Afectos de un alma reconocida al beneficio de su justificación» by José de San Juan will be heard, a work of around 1715 and the only surviving composition by this major chapelmaster. The concert is performed by the ensemble El Gabinete de Música, which brings the work back to light in its modern-day premiere. The libretto tells episodes from the life of Mary Magdalene occurring just before the Passion, and belongs to the oldest known oratorios with a Spanish text.
