A talk introducing the origins and concerns of drug culture. Susanne Seiler, who lived through the sixties and seventies as a hippie, studied sociology and linguistics, and took part in early studies on psychedelic use, guides the evening. She traces how jazz and blues first brought people into contact with the culture in the thirties, how sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll dismantled postwar conformity, and what grew from it. In conversation with the audience she also wants to explore what this means for Generation Z.
