ZJO / ZURICH JAZZ ORCHESTRA

The Zurich Jazz Orchestra performs a concert from its Duke Ellington series, centred on the «New Orleans Suite». Recorded in 1970, the work won a 1971 Grammy in the category «Best Large Jazz Ensemble Performance» and stands as an emotional homage to the roots of jazz, seen through the eyes of an ageing Duke Ellington. The ensemble is led by Ed Partyka, and the rest of the programme brings highlights from other late Ellington suites such as «The Far East Suite», «Such Sweet Thunder» and «Peer Gynt». The venue's bar serves food before and after the concert.
