Der Eintritt ist frei.
About
A colloquium talk on political orders in the Sahara, drawing on historical and ethnographic case studies to examine principles of mobility, authority and the production of borders. The speaker is social anthropologist Judith Scheele of the EHESS in Marseille, who has carried out extensive field research in northwest Africa. She argues that the Sahara's 'polypoly of legitimate violence' can question fundamental assumptions of standard political theory. Admission is free.
