An evening in the „Bodies of Law“ series on people’s trials and grassroots initiatives that function as a „theater of justice and truth“ and present alternative, performative models of justice beyond official legal frameworks. It follows the lecture „Volksprozesse als Gegenforen“ by critical legal scholar Başak Ertür with the film „hold on to her“ by Robin Vanbesien. The film addresses a case of police and state violence tied to migration and border controls in Belgium: in 2018, Mawda Shawri was shot by a Belgian police officer during a chase on a motorway. It traces a lived social infrastructure of care, solidarity and the struggle for justice.
