About
“After Art History? Future Paradigms for the Contemporary Art Museum” is a one-day symposium at Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart. The event is organised by the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, with speakers including Dr Sam Bardaouil, Dr David Joselit and other scholars from art history, sociology and science and technology studies. The symposium asks what happens when art history is no longer the unquestioned epistemic centre of the museum but becomes one form of knowledge among many. It explores how museums can classify, interpret and preserve under conditions of uncertainty, and how historical knowledge can coexist with provisional, situated and collaborative forms of knowledge.
