About
"All that I left behind is here" is a solo performance by Romuald Krężel that draws on his personal and artistic experience. The Polish choreographer, based in Berlin, returns to his very first dance experience, a free ballroom dance course at his primary school, to examine various aspects of classism in the performing arts. By relearning and critically reflecting on movements, steps, poses and styles such as cha-cha-cha, rumba and jive, he investigates his social background and its relation to his current choreographic practice. Echoed by ghostly figures and post-punk music, the audience is led through Krężel's past, culminating in a moving conversation with his mother about class, body, work, shame and dance.
