A dance workshop as part of The School of Self-Defense, offering insight into Ana Pi's ongoing research CORPO FIRME: peripheral dances, sacred gesture. The Brazilian choreographer engages with movement practices of the African diaspora in the transatlantic space. At its core is the question of which forms of knowledge, memory and freedom are stored in bodies, and how dance can make them more visible again. Through exercises in rhythm, presence, tension and listening, individual and collective choreographic situations emerge between improvisation and composition.
