Bach (Kurzversion): theatre about Bach's life and work.

„Bach (Kurzversion)“ is a biography-based theatre production about the life and work of the composer Bach, with a chamber orchestra and choir. Eleven actors in 138 roles tell of Bach's childhood and youth, his appointment as organist in Arnstadt, his marriage to Maria Barbara and his conflicts with the absolutist power structures in Weimar and Köthen. The 13-piece chamber orchestra performs 35 works by Bach and is also integrated into the stage action; secular works take musical centre stage. Matthias Witting directs, Thomas Lotz leads the music and Thomas Sutter wrote the book; the production received the IKARUS 2006 award as an outstanding Berlin theatre production.
