Bach (Long Version): stage play on Bach's life and work.

A stage production about the life and work of Johann Sebastian Bach with acting, a chamber orchestra and choir. Eleven performers in 138 roles portray a person who pursued his dream from childhood onward with determination and passion, while a thirteen-piece orchestra plays 35 of Bach's works. The long version looks, beyond his childhood, youth and conflicts with absolutist power structures, at his sacred works, the art of the fugue and his work as Thomaskantor. The production by Matthias Witting, with a book by Thomas Sutter and musical direction by Thomas Lotz, received the IKARUS 2006 as an outstanding Berlin theatre production.
