The exhibition „Bestehendes bewahren. Neues schaffen. Umbaukultur in Berlin“ presents nine Berlin projects from housing, education, culture and infrastructure, including the Hotel Wilmina & Carlotta, the Spreestudios, the Spreepark and the Lokhalle in Natur Park Südgelände. It is about a culture of conversion: preserving, extending and reusing existing buildings and urban spaces to save resources, preserve history and create new spaces for everyday life. Photos, plans, texts and graphics convey the starting points, the structural interventions and their impact, complemented by a photographic look back at five decades of Berlin's conversion culture. At idea walls, visitors can contribute their own observations and suggestions.
