About
A concert evening at Jazzfest Berlin featuring three performances at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele. It opens with the world premiere of a new ten-piece international band by Buenos Aires-born, Berlin-based saxophonist and composer Camila Nebbia, inspired by the unpublished memoirs of her great-grandfather who left Lebanon, and framed by manipulated film footage. She is followed by Iraqi-American trumpeter Amir ElSaffar's new quartet, blending Iraqi maqam tradition with post-bop and microtonal music. The night closes with the explosive quartet of New York saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins, which has just released a celebrated series of spirited live albums.
