Critical Musicologies: symposium on canon critique.

The symposium “Critical Musicologies: Zwischen Kanonizität, Lehre und künstlerischer Praxis” is the 40th DVSM early-career symposium and takes place at changing venues. The team of Musica inaudita developed the conference concept; registration is by email with the subject line “Anmeldung DVSM-Symposium”. It critically questions canons – not only in concert programmes but also in musical degree programmes, especially musicology – thereby putting canon and teaching critique into practice. Instead of classic individual talks, alternative formats of presentation and exchange are meant to make the conference participatory and interdisciplinary, with performances, installative works and workshops recognised as formats of knowledge transfer equal to purely academic papers.
