About
Das Periodensystem is a concert by ensemble mosaik as part of the Klangwerkstatt Berlin festival. With a long-term project, the ensemble explores the 118 chemical elements musically, building a sound archive spanning science, society, politics and artistic imagination. For the festival it presents three world premieres: Maja Bosnić turns to lithium and the protests against the extraction of rare raw materials in Serbia, Jessie Marino to caesium, and Manuel Rodríguez Valenzuela writes a piece on lead for solo violin and eight microtonal monochords. Jean-Féry Rebel's »Le Cahos« is also heard in an ensemble arrangement; the concert is conducted by Aaron Cassidy, with Leonie Reineke hosting and leading a conversation.
