About
"Der Staat gegen Fritz Bauer" is a political drama about the fight of the Frankfurt public prosecutor Fritz Bauer to arrest Adolf Eichmann, one of the most wanted war criminals, and bring him before a German court. The film by Lars Kraume also shows the resistance Bauer encountered in Germany in the late 1950s. It also addresses his homosexuality, which was punishable at the time.

Critics
7.1Good
Critics praise the lead actor's performance, the dense, atmospheric staging and the gripping portrait of postwar Germany. They fault the film for sidelining Bauer's real achievements in favour of speculative psychological invention.
