Gegen das Vergessen – Andacht zu einem Deutschen Datum
Berliner Dom, Am Lustgarten, 10178 Berlin, Mitte
About
Berlin Cathedral invites to a special service titled „Gegen das Vergessen – Andacht zu einem Deutschen Datum". The memorial service is dedicated to November 9th, a date that ties the state-ordered violence against the Jewish population in 1938 to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. At its heart are remembrance of the Jewish victims, a plea for guidance amid growing antisemitism, and the memory of the shared courage of those who took to the streets for freedom. The service features a sermon by cathedral preacher Stefan Scholpp and music by the Oratorienchor der Berliner Domkantorei conducted by cathedral music director Adrian Büttemeier with organist Dr. Jakub Sawicki, performing exclusively works composed after November 9th, 1938.
