Identitti
About
Identitti is based on Mithu Sanyal's bestselling novel from 2021 and was directed by Randa Chahoud. The student Nivedita finds an old photo revealing that her professor Saraswati, a Woman of Color who lectures on cultural identity, is in fact white. While the media and online communities erupt over the scandal, Nivedita tries to uncover Saraswati's motive and faces a political and personal dilemma. The film takes on questions of cultural appropriation, cancel culture, belonging and identity with clever humor and a young visual language.
