Italien in Berlin: launch of the citizen science project.

This launch event presents the new citizen science project "Italien in Berlin", which explores how Italian immigrants lived in Berlin in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and what traces they left in the city. The project is run by the Citizen Science team at the Stabi Lab of the Berlin State Library. Its first phase focuses on the former "Little Italy" in Prenzlauer Berg, where from around 1870 a community of craftsmen, street musicians and innkeepers took shape. The event introduces the project's goals, research questions and working methods, with many ways to take part, from archive research and interviews to podcasting, plus a digital city map and a virtual exhibition.
