Jazzfest Berlin | Matthias Muche BONECRUSHER: Densities - 12 trombones and percussion
Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche, Breitscheidplatz, 10789 Berlin, Charlottenburg
About
At Jazzfest Berlin, the orchestra BONECRUSHER performs under the direction of Cologne trombonist Matthias Muche at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Under the title "Densities – 12 trombones and percussion", the ensemble devotes itself to a single instrument with twelve trombones plus percussion. The music moves between contemporary composition and free improvisation, with layered drones, dynamic counterpoint and microtonal harmonic fields. The group plays pieces from its current album Densities, including compositions by Muche and Matthias Müller and an arrangement of Johannes Bauer, filling the reverberant church with a rich, physically tangible sound.
