About
The documentary 'Junkies of Dreaming – Mahler 3 Currentzis' follows conductor Teodor Currentzis during orchestra rehearsals for Gustav Mahler's ground-breaking Third Symphony. Munich-based director Jan Schmidt-Garre also covers the symphony's origins and Currentzis' own compositional work. Shot in Cinemascope with unusually beautiful lighting, the film takes audiences into the depths of Gustav Mahler's music in the halls of the Berliner Funkhaus. A discussion with the audience in the presence of the director follows the screening.

Critics praise the gorgeous cinematography and the sensually immersive portrayal of rehearsals and Mahler's music. They fault the lack of deeper insight into the symphony and the conductor's style.
