About
The Leibniz-Sozietät der Wissenschaften zu Berlin invites to a session of its class for natural sciences and technical sciences, held as a hybrid event on site and via Zoom. Dr. Hauke Hußmann, a researcher at the DLR Institute of Space Research and scientific lead of the BepiColombo Laser Altimeter, gives a talk on surveying planets and moons using laser altimetry. He explains how the method determines the topography of planets, moons and asteroids and allows conclusions about their inner structure. Using the instruments BELA and GALA of the BepiColombo and JUICE missions as examples, he presents how they work and their scientific goals.
