Lecture by Larisa Schippel on scholars' exile.

The class meeting of the Social Sciences and Humanities Class is a scholarly session with a lecture, held as a hybrid event on site and via Zoom. It is organised by the Social Sciences and Humanities Class of the Leibniz-Sozietät der Wissenschaften zu Berlin. Larisa Schippel speaks on the expulsion and return of scholars from a translation-history perspective, using the exile of scholars in Turkey, Great Britain, Yugoslavia and the USA to show which translation strategies were used and how academic milieus became transculturalised. She also examines who returned after the end of the Nazi regime and under what conditions.
