About

The literary salon »Emanzipation = Aufstieg?« is an evening of readings, music and conversations about emancipation and social advancement in literature. The Heinrich von der Haar Literaturstiftung is behind it, inviting guests to its last major literary salon of the year. It asks whether education is a path to freedom or whether advancement demands adapting to middle-class values, how strongly social origins shape who we are, and whether reconciliation between social classes is possible. Ewald Schürmann examines the educational work of an upwardly mobile person, Ilka Vierkant devotes herself to Didier Eribon's Return to Reims, Heinrich von der Haar reads from his novel Der Idealist, Henry-M. Klemt hosts the evening and Rita Klemt accompanies on saxophone.
