About
"Mark of a Woman" is a performance by Chisato Minamimura that explores tattoo cultures and the marks imposed on women's bodies, whether by choice or by society. The artist fuses choreographed and poetic sign language, digital animation and haptic technology. At its centre is the question of whether we can escape the imposed marks, and what happens when we reclaim the power to mark ourselves. It starts from the question of how gender is inscribed into our bodies from birth.
