Under the title „Resistance is Only a Temporary Grace“, Monika Michalko presents an exhibition of her paintings and environments. The title is borrowed from the Swiss poet, musician and performer Balz Isler. Instead of fighters or violence, Michalko's pictures show botany, rooms, furniture and landscapes, mostly without human figures. The resistance in her art lies less in the motifs than in her practice: she experiments with materials beyond the canvas and understands painting itself as direct resistance to the harsh world outside.
