Nacht auf der Sternwarte is a live-moderated night of sky watching, where visitors observe planets, the Moon and deep-sky objects such as stars, nebulae and galaxies through the Cassegrain reflecting telescope. The event is run by the Archenhold-Sternwarte in Treptower Park, Germany's largest and oldest public observatory. Experts answer questions about celestial bodies as well as the technology and history of the instruments. In bad weather an alternative programme is offered in the planetarium or KosmosLab, and visitors should bring warm clothing as parts of the event take place in unheated rooms or under the open sky.
