About
Penthesilea: Ein Requiem / პენთესილეა. რეკვიემი is a bilingual theatre production performed in Georgian and German with surtitles in both languages. It was written and directed by the Georgian-born writer and director Nino Haratischwili, a reinterpretation of the ancient myth staged together with actresses from Georgia and the ensemble of the Deutsches Theater. Before the walls of Troy, the battle of systems has turned into trench warfare when the Amazons appear under their queen Penthesilea, who is searching for the once glorious hero Achilles and loves him. Both are tired of killing, but the war is greater than any heroine and any hero, and so an unrelenting game of love and death unfolds.
