Projections Onto the East is a multipart exhibition, discourse and publication project at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.), showing historical and contemporary artworks together with new productions developed especially for it. The project was conceived by curators Fabian Bechtle and Leon Kahane and is presented by n.b.k. in cooperation with the Schinkel Pavillon. International artists, scholars and writers examine the ideological attributions attached to the terms "East" and "West", from GDR memory politics and antisemitism to postsocialist transformations and current geopolitical tensions. At its centre is the question of how the dichotomy of "East" and "West" structures our present.
