Richard Oelze – Zwischen Traum und Wirklichkeit
Galerie Brockstedt, Charlottenburg
About
Richard Oelze – Zwischen Traum und Wirklichkeit is an exhibition of oil paintings and drawings by the painter Richard Oelze at Galerie Brockstedt in Berlin-Charlottenburg. The gallery has been working closely with the artist since the 1970s and is presenting a museum-quality retrospective of works from 1935 to 1970. Oelze was born in 1900, trained at the Bauhaus in Weimar and Dessau, and in Paris came into contact with the international Surrealist movement around André Breton as well as Salvador Dalí and Max Ernst, who became one of the greatest admirers of his work. His enigmatic visual worlds oscillate between Surrealism and New Objectivity, and among his best-known works is "Expectation" (1935/36).
