About

Gigantomania is an exhibition by the artist Sophie Kovel at Haus am Waldsee in Berlin. Kovel, born in Los Angeles in 1996 and living and working in Paris, presents new works here that she developed through her engagement with the site and its history. The exhibition is the third and final chapter of the series Seit… created for the house's 80th anniversary, unfolding along a display architecture designed by Nina Akhvlediani in the café, the building's former garage. Kovel turns to the nearby Studio Babelsberg AG, examining its history of avant-garde, fascist and socialist ideological image production as well as the impact and circulation of media images today.
